Workshop Objective

The aim of the full-day phlebotomy workshop is to enable practitioners to develop and demonstrate competence in the procedure of venepuncture relevant to your clinical area.

Aspiring phlebotomists will learn how to carry out proper infection control measures, and receive instruction on how to prepare the blood collection site, choose the proper collection tools and correct handling of transportation, processing and management of collected samples.

The half-day phlebotomy refresher course will provide clinicians who are already practising phlebotomy, with the most recent and up-to-date legislation, guidelines, tips and techniques.

Delegates will be shown how to stabilise veins and how to obtain samples from difficult veins and the backs of hands.

Workshop Price

The standard rate for one full-day workshop is £1,295 + VAT (ROI €1,295) is delivered face-to-face.

The standard rate for one half-day workshop is £925 + VAT (ROI €925) is delivered face-to-face.

This is for up to 12 delegates and includes all materials and trainer costs.

  • Aftercare techniques and procedures

  • Pre-analytical errors
  • Causes of haemoconcentration / haemolysis
  • Importance of documentation of where blood samples have been obtained from
  • Time management / appointment timings
  • Different sized devices and when / where to use them
  • Demonstration of various techniques in stabilising veins
  • Correct use of tourniquets
  • Legal issues
